Welcome to the web site of Robert Brown MSP
This site is designed to give news and information about the issues that I am involved in as Liberal Democrat MSP for Glasgow Region. My Regional constituency covers both the City of Glasgow itself, and the communities of Rutherglen and Cambuslang. I have taken up an enormous number of issues since the Scottish Parliament first met in May 1999.
-
Some arise from my long-standing interest in housing - homelessness, housing maintenance, fuel poverty and support for Housing Associations and community ownership.
-
Some are Glasgow area issues - Glasgow airport rail link and Crossrail, green space, planning and community environment issues like Clouston Street or Otago Lane and fubding for local voluntary groups.
-
Some are on policy areas in which people have approached me - education, public transport, human rights, mental health, visual impairment or the opportunities offered by our Colleges and Universities.
-
Some arise from my portfolio as Liberal Democrat Justice Spokesman in the Scottish Parliament - like the need for more effective community service sentences, improving public access to freedom of information, or the workings of the Children's Panel system.
I want to see Scotland and Britain as places where young people have a fair chance in life to achieve their ambitions, where communities are strong and confident, and where all our people can have high quality public services to support their activities and needs.
I want the City of Glasgow, Rutherglen and Cambuslang to be known as great places to live and work, not for their challenges of poor health or lack of job opportunities for young people, or for insensitive decisions by local and national government.
If you want to contact me on any issue, please e-mail robert.brown.msp@scottish.parliament.uk or contact my parliamentary office on 0141 572 5000.

Robert Brown attacks Somerfield closure
Sun 21st Feb 2010
The imminent closure of Burnside's Somerfield store has been slammed by Glasgow MSP Robert Brown. Mr. Brown has called on the prospective purchaser to make an immediate statement on their intentions for the future of the site. He said that, if the intention was, as had been rumoured, to build flats, the whole basis of the purchase by the unnamed purchaser of the store site was unsound.
