Robert Brown MSP backs National Recycling Week11.44.20am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 28th Jun 2005
Glasgow Liberal democrat MSP Robert Brown has publicly backed National Recycling Week and calls for Glasgow residents to do their bit to help the environment. National Recycling Week- The Big Recycle for Scotland runs from June 27th to July 2nd and aims to build on the local Waste Awareness Scotland campaigns and the national Scottish Executive campaign, 'Do A Little, Change A Lot'. Robert Brown said: "The Executive has invested over £300 million, to 2007/ 2008, to increase the availability of recycling facilities across Scotland and make it easier for everyone to participate. The money is only the start, it is businesses and individuals who can really make the difference. Many people use kerbside Recycling Services but many more don't. It does take a little more time and effort to recycle certain items but the benefits more than outweigh the slight inconvenience." "I urge everybody to do their bit and hope that this campaign makes people more aware about the benefits of recycling. The Scottish Executive has set Scottish Councils a target to recycle and compost 25% of municipal waste by 2006 and 30% by 2008 so your help is needed to really make a difference." END
