Robert Brown - additional Post Office closures "bizarre"12.00.00am GMT Wed 9th Jan 2008
Glasgow Liberal Democrat MSP Robert Brown has branded the decision by the Post Office to close two further branches, in Shawbridge street and Westmuir street, as "bizarre" Neither of the two branches were initially ear marked for closure under the consultation document released in late October last year. Almost all of the Post Offices pegged for closure last October are to be shut down, however the announcement about Shawbridge street and Westmuir street branches has come as a surprise to many. Slamming the decision, Mr. Brown said: ""If the retention of these two Post Offices was justified before, it is difficult to see what has changed. The locations are entirely unrelated to the Post Offices which have been reprieved. The whole thing shows the nonsense of setting artificial numbers of Post Offices to close in advance of detailed study." ends
