Robert Brown calls for new hospital to be delivered on time

Glasgow Liberal Democrat MSP Robert Brown has welcomed the confirmation of the Southern General Hospital development but has called on Scottish Government to confirm when the project will be complete.
Last week's announcement from Government ministers brought the news that the new hospital was given the go ahead, and details of the funding arrangements, giving more clarity to the long-awaited project.
Detailed drawings were also released, giving indication of how the new site would look, and where main departments would be located.
However the announcement contained no details of timings - as to when work will begin or when the project will be completed - giving rise to some concerns on this front.
Mr. Brown said:
"I am pleased that the future of the Southern General Hospital project has at last been confirmed. I have supported a new Southside Glasgow hospital throughout my time in the Scottish Parliament.
"However, I am concerned that the Government statement does not give any timetable for completion of the construction works. I hope this does not imply any further delay.
"People are just as keen to know when the new hospital will open as they are to know how it will be funded.
"The Minister must tell us clearly when building will start on this hospital and when it will be ready to admit patients.
"This hospital is crucial for Glasgow. I will be keeping a close eye on progress to ensure that it is delivered on time and within the budget."
Ends.
