Glasgow MSP Robert Brown has today called for greater support for the victims of human trafficking. The call comes as a report, published by the Scottish Government, reveals there have so far been no successful prosecutions for human trafficking in Scotland.
"The trafficking of human beings into Scotland for sexual exploitation, forced labour and domestic servitude is simply appalling and unacceptable. The proposals outlined in this report are a welcome step towards stamping out this evil practice.
"The Governments focus should be on providing specialist support, medical care, legal advice and safe housing for the victims of human trafficking.
"This would also make it easier for victims to come forward with information that could be used to crack down on traffickers in Scotland."
